A few days ago vandals spread white paint over the faces of black, historical and important Surinamese persons on this mural.
Outside the black archives in Amsterdam.
The mural was made this summer by Hedy Tjin and Dewy Elsinga.
I heard about it, but as I'm not able to go to Amsterdam, due to Corona, I had not seen it yet.
It's such a shame. I don't think this is only vandalism, this is racisme.

Ja verschrikkelijk en zo treurig voor de artiest. Zo zinloos.
De kunstenaar vond het inderdaad heel erg. Ze zegt dat het wel hersteld kan worden, maar lastig. En ze zei ook (en dat begreep ik zo goed) dat het in de zomer was gemaakt en dat het nu met kou en pokkeweer toch heel vervelend werken zal zijn.

Very sad at such shocking behaviour! The murals used to be quite pretty and colourful and I hope the artist can bring them back to life.
